Quality, value for money and good service are high on the priority list for today's discerning shopper. You'll find just that in Barbados where shopping opportunities abound, with everything from designer labels to 100% hand-made Bajan goods.
The St James is particularly well located for its guests to visit the brand new Limegrove Lifestyle Centre where many of the world’s leading and luxury retail brands can be found, including the very best Barbadian brands – all carefully selected to provide something for everyone.
In addition there are art galleries and entertainment - a VIP High Definition cinema and a regular events programme, wellness - a spa, world-class fitness centre, cosmetic clinic and medical centre, eateries and gourmet food outlets.
You can also search for collectables and art produced by talented local craftsmen in art galleries, speciality markets and craft fairs – just ask the St James staff about what’s on during your stay and they can advise you on where to find bargains off the beaten track.
There are a number of excellent spas within easy reach of the St James, which means you can pamper yourself at a variety of different places during your stay should you desire. The serene setting at these health and beauty spas will take your breathe away; warm Barbadian sunlight dispersing through sheer curtains only to bounce around on gently pastel walls, then glistening in the clear waters of fountains and waterfalls, flowing water running slowly over smooth river rocks, ambient music playing in the background – it’s just heaven!
The spa at the Sandy Lane Hotel is the largest on the island and it is open to non-residents of the hotel. Set in its own building next to the hotel pool area it has a full range of services in its 14 treatment suites (some with private gardens). There is an ice cave, yoga and meditation studio, hydrotherapy pool, jet blitz room, chakra room, fitness room, personal training room, a John Frieda Hair Salon, and the spa has its own restaurant offering a selection of healthy eating dishes.
The Spa at the Coral Reef Club is also open to guests of the St James and is set in a walled courtyard with profuse tropical greenery. It has four treatment rooms, each of which has a private garden area, and an open-sided pavilion for couples’ treatments. There is also a hydro pool, a steam room and a beauty salon.
